akg-images is proud to announce exclusive representation of an impressive, unique and slightly ghoulish photographic archive. After completing a PhD in Art History at UCLA in 2004, Paul Koudounaris embarked on an ambitious project to photograph every site on earth decorated in human bones, travelling across four continents to document some of the world’s most opulent charnel houses, ossuaries, and bone-decorated shrines. Angelika Pirkl, Senior Picture Researcher at akg’s offices in London, has written on the akg-images blog about this extraordinary collection of photographs, with many more images for licensing worldwide available now at www.akg-images.com: http://blog.akg-images.com/blog/2013/06/10/when-death-comes-knocking/
